Childrens lessons

Let's get rid of those stabilisers, I can help your child cycle on two wheels. 1-2-1 cycling lessons will soon have them riding and smiling.

We will develop those crucial early cycle handling and awareness skills, building up confidence and progression to pedal cycling. We will concentrate on balance, and pedalling. Suitable for any age. We will progress and prepare for Bikeability Level 1.

"Hi Nicky, thank you so much for today!! The boys really enjoyed themselves and Oliver is so proud of himself for learning how to ride and James feels much more confident on the road. Many Thanks"

Bikeability

Bikeability is the Cycling Proficiency Test for the 21st century, designed to give the next generation the skills and confidence to ride their bikes on today's roads. There are three Bikeability levels and children will be encouraged and inspired to achieve all three levels, recognising that there is always more to learn and to enjoy on a bike.

Level 1 – From age 5, These lessons take place off road and you learn to control your bike, look behind, ride one handed, avoid hazards, control speed and use gears. Prepare yourself for a journey and check the cycle is ready. Ideal for anyone new to cycling in need of some confidence.

Don't stop at Level 1, We start to deal with real traffic.

Level 2 – Is where you start to deal with real traffic, great for those wishing to progress from very quiet roads to slightly busier ones. Negotiating junctions, thinking about road positions, communicating with other road users and priorities. Overtaking parked cars and complying with signals, signs and road markings.

Keep going. Next level is a must for those wanting to brush up on cycle techniques and how to deal with busy road situations.

If you then want to learn the skills to tackle more challenging roads and traffic situations.

Level 3 training is next. Trainees move onto route planning and tackling problems, hazard perception, roundabouts, traffic lights, filtering, multi lanes, queuing, avoiding blind spots, cooperate with and respect other road users and personal routes, i.e to school or town.

Once training is finished please continue to cycle, just to keep confident and keep your cycling skills up to scratch.

"Our 5yr old son James had lessons with Nicky and mastered his balance and cycling without stabilisers after just 2 lessons! Nicky has helped James to achieve what we had unsuccessfully and frustratingly tried to do for months which is down to Nicky's patient and caring teaching style. James has really enjoyed his lessons and wants to go back!"
