Let's get rid of those stabilisers, We can help your child cycle on two wheels. 1-2-1 cycling lessons will soon have them riding and smiling.
We will develop those crucial early cycle handling and awareness skills, we will focus on their confidence and enjoy being on a bike, Initially, we remove the pedals to help with balance, and then gradually reintroduce one pedal at a time ensuring your child feels in control rather than the bike. building up confidence and progression to pedalling. Suitable from the age of about 5 years.
"Hi Nicky, thank you so much for today!! The boys really enjoyed themselves and Oliver is so proud of himself for learning how to ride and James feels much more confident on the road. Many Thanks"
There are three Bikeability levels and children will be encouraged and inspired to achieve all three levels, recognising that there is always more to learn and to enjoy on a bike.
Level 1 – From age 6-7, These lessons are conducted off-road and focus is on controlling the bike, looking behind, riding one, avoiding hazards controlling speed, and using gears. Riders also learn to prepare for a journey and check the bicycle's readiness. Ideal for anyone new to cycling in need of some confidence.
Don't stop at Level 1, We start to deal with real traffic.
Level 2 – From about 9-10 years of age, This level introduces riding with traffic, ideal transitioning from very quiet roads to slightly busier ones. Riders learn to navigate junctions, consider road positioning, communicate with other road users, and prioritize. Skills include overtaking parked cars and adhering to signals, signs, and road markings.
Keep going. Next level is a must for those wanting to brush up on cycle techniques and how to deal with busy road situations.
Level 3 training is next from about 11 years old. For those wishing to handle more complex roads and traffic scenarios, Level 3 focuses on route planning, problem-solving, hazard perception, roundabouts, traffic lights, filtering, multilane roads, queuing, avoiding blind spots, and cooperating with and respecting other road users.
Once training is finished please continue to cycle, just to keep confident and keep your cycling skills up to scratch.
"Our 5yr old son James had lessons with Nicky and mastered his balance and cycling without stabilisers after just 2 lessons! Nicky has helped James to achieve what we had unsuccessfully and frustratingly tried to do for months which is down to Nicky's patient and caring teaching style. James has really enjoyed his lessons and wants to go back!"
